About the Solution

First thing first – I work from this perspective:

The relationship is not the problem, the problem is the problem.

The process of relationship therapy commences with getting to know your relationship history and your shared or exclusive perspectives on the problem. By deepening our understanding of the nature of the difficulties we can generate more productive ways to resolve or manage those difficulties. Sometimes the problem will disappear altogether as a result of receiving support, but in other circumstances, learning to better manage or cope with the difficulty is a good outcome.

I offer two different modalities of therapy: couples counselling and relationship counselling for individuals.

COUPLES COUNSELLING

Couples counselling is a client-paced offering of therapeutic support. In certain circumstances, couples may prefer to maintain more distance or time apart and come together in an emotionally safe environment during therapy. Or, it may be that the couple is at the early stages of conflict, and do not require intensive support. There can be many different scenarios in which gently paced couples therapy is ideal.

RELATIONSHIP COUNSELLING FOR INDIVIDUALS

Is this person right for me? Why do I/they behave like this? Why do we fight all the time? If you have a relationship problem and want to do individual work to build understanding and skills, then you and I will likely make a good team. Together, we can explore the nature of attachment and bonding and the dynamics of seeking out and withdrawing from one another, as these factors form the foundation of all relationships.
